Election Fact Sheet

  1. ABSENTEE VOTERS MUST SIGN THE BACK OF THEIR ENVELOPE IN ORDER FOR THEIR VOTE TO BE COUNTED.
  2. ABSENTEE VOTES MUST BE RECEIVED (NOT MERELY POSTMARKED) BY NOON ON JUNE 2ND.
  3. VOTERS MAY EITHER MAIL THEIR BALLOTS OR DELIVER THEM DIRECTLY (RECOMMENDED IF SENDING IN CLOSE TO JUNE 2ND).
  4. MARION COUNTY SPECIFICALLY IS FACILITATING QUICK DROP-OFF FOR ABSENTEE BALLOTS AT ALL EARLY VOTE SITES.
  5. ALL VOTERS STILL HAVE THE RIGHT TO VOTE EARLY OR ABSENTEE EVEN IF THEY HAVE ORDERED AN ABSENTEE BALLOT. THEY SHOULD BRING AND SURRENDER IT IF THEY CAN, BUT THIS IS NOT REQUIRED.
  6. ALL VOTERS SHOULD BE ABLE TO VOTE AN OFFICIAL BALLOT UNLESS THEIR NAME CANNOT BE FOUND ON THE VOTER ROLLS OR THEY DO NOT HAVE PRESCRIBED ID.
  7. OFFICIAL ID IS DEFINED AS ANY ID ISSUED BY THE STATE OF INDIANA OR THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AND THAT DISPLAYS THE VOTER’S PHOTO AND AN EXPIRATION DATE (THAT HAS NOT EXPIRED BEFORE THE DATE OF THE LAST GENERAL ELECTION, OR HAS AN ‘INDEFINITE’ EXPIRATION).
  8. EXAMPLES INCLUDE A DRIVER’S LICENSE, STATE ID, PASSPORT, PASSPORT CARD, STATE STUDENT ID, MILITARY ID, OR FIREARM LICENSE.
  9. POLLS ARE OPEN FROM 6:00 AM TO 6:00 PM ON JUNE 2ND. ALL VOTERS IN LINE AT 6:00 PM HAVE THE RIGHT TO VOTE.
